Bel Andrade is a trans/non-binary sculpture artist and recent OCAD U graduate from Toronto, Canada by way of Wellington, New Zealand. Their artistic practice primarily focuses on the investigation (and negotiating with) capturing liminality, specifically in regards to the liminal nature of trans bodies, and memorializing the quiet power of the queer experience. Bel primarily uses cast metal such as bronze, aluminum, and iron in their works, speaking to their fascination with legacy and their yearning to leave traces of their existence to act as monuments to queer survival.
